December Newsletter and Meeting

Hi all!
December newsletter now available for members here.

A few notes for all…

  1. Last newsletter for the year has brought the contributors out of the woodwork. And our regulars also. Well done all. Thanks for the extras. Makes life much easier for the editor.
  2. Canberra Xmas meeting this month with door prizes, nibbles and drinks.
  3. Port Maccers – a very laid back meeting for you this month for a relaxed end to a hectic year. Bring your gear and your questions for a day of chatting to other members to see how they do things.
  4. A big HELLO to the new members we’ve picked up all over this month – in Canberra, Port Mac and the coast. Hope to see you all soon! Don’t forget to bring your gear to a meeting if you can – and don’t forget about our ‘general help list’ – it’s your “get out of jail” card when you get stuck!
  5. All membership payments up to the time of sending this email have been processed. So if you’ve not received a receipt from me then it means I’ve not seen you payment yet, so you should get in touch.
  6. For those who’ve not renewed yet and plan to – poke poke, prod prod….
    – in person at our meeting
    – paypal, ‘send’ payment to president@actapple.org.au
    – eftpos to ACTApple User Group, Beyond Bank, BSB 805022, a/c 3425208. It is critical that you put your surname on the transfer description. If you don’t get confirmation from me within a week then *let me know* – it will be because I’ve not received or can’t identify your payment.
  7. ACTApple T-shirts are available on our website, and have been selling from there also. Yay! High quality t-shirts and very comfortable fabric with a stitched logo (not iron-on), excellent value for money. For our Port Mac members – you’ve got your own “Port Mac” logo.

    Enjoy,

    regards

November Newsletter and Meeting

Hi all,

the November newsletter is now available for members here.

A few notes for all…

  1. As you may have seen by now … renewal time is upon us! Yay. We’ve had about 40 people paid via the website so far which is great. If you’ve not seen your email yet then pls let me know so we can chase it up. Else if you could pay ASAP either online or at your November meeting … I for one would be eternally grateful. Really is a pain in the caboose chasing around behind people for fees
  2. Port Mac and South Coast Xmas party meetings, so we’re looking forward lots of fun there, with some door prizes to boot. And another full day of info sessions.
  3. Bit of a thin newsletter this month – maybe some of our members can find a few minutes in the month to put together short articles for sharing? Remember, the editor is an editor, not a journalist.
  4. ACTApple T-shirts are available on our website, and have been selling from there also. Yay! High quality t-shirts and very comfortable fabric with a stitched logo (not iron-on), excellent value for money. For our Port Mac members – you’ve got your own “Port Mac” logo.
  5. You might recall a previous email last month about a group buy of the MacBook Pro’s. Well they’re out now, I’m trying to find out more at the moment. If you’d like to be in on it and haven’t already told me then pls send me a note so I can include you.Enjoy

August Newsletter and Meetings

hi all!
August newsletter for members is now available here.

A few notes for all…

  1. Heading into EOFY time for ACTApple, and our annual hunt for people to help with things that we do.
  2. Happy bday Port Mac! We’ve got another big meeting this month, I’ll be visiting and that means more afternoon sessions. Mark your calendars!
  3. Photography themes continue in Cbr, with Trevor giving a run through of some of the apps that can really help with taking photos on your iDevices. You’ll be surprised how much extra power is in there that you can tap into beyond the default Apple app.
  4. ACTApple T-shirts are available on our website, and have been selling from there also. Yay! High quality t-shirts and very comfortable fabric with a stitched logo (not iron-on), excellent value for money. For our Port Mac members – you’ve got your own “Port Mac” logo.

Enjoy,

July Newsletter and Meetings

Hi all!
the July newsletter is now available in the members section here

A few notes for all…

1. We’re keeping our focus on the basic programs you get with your Mac. To that end we’ll be using a longer session in Canberra to cover Photos (in particular the headaches of using iCloud), and music in Port Mac including digitising your LP’s.

2. Another great article by David in Philosophical Bytes considering ‘smart machines’. Are big things afoot? Maybe you could have a read, then google “IBM Watson Jeopardy”.

3. ACTApple T-shirts are available on our website, and have been selling from there also. Yay! High quality t-shirts and very comfortable fabric with a stitched logo (not iron-on), excellent value for money. For our Port Mac members – you’ve got your own “Port Mac” logo.

Enjoy,

regards

June Newsletter

Hi all!

The June newsletter is now available for members here. Apologies for the delay, teething problems from changing our internet domain host.

MEETINGS

A few notes for all…

  1. Bit of an Apple-TV month this month. Both Port Mac and South Coast are having Apple-TV oriented meetings. Not surprising either – the device has become very nice to use, with loads of entertainment potential being packed into it and voice control. Up to 6000 apps can run on the new Apple-Tv 4th gen. An app is something like Netflix, Stan, tenplay, iTunes, PLUS7, ABC iview – and games of course 🙂 So … 6000 choices should see you through a weekend easily! Come along before you race off to buy one!
  2. ACTApple is selling the club iPad. See our advert on page 15.
  3. ACTApple T-shirts are available on our website, and have been selling from there also. Yay! High quality t-shirts and very comfortable fabric with a stitched logo (not iron-on), excellent value for money. For our Port Mac members – you’ve got your own “Port Mac” logo.

Cheers
