March 2019 Update

hi all!

March newsletter has been mailed out and is also available from our website (members only area) here.

A few reminders…

  1. Canberra meetings are now in the daytime on the 3rd Wed of each month (but no meetings in January). Next meeting is 20-Mar.
  2. Port Mac meeting is this weekend 16-Mar
  3. I need to send out our notes from the photobook sessions. Running behind on cleaning up the notes for that, will get to it in another email.
  4. Lots more useful Photos info still coming, including an excellent little article from Martina on slide scanning the inexpensive way.
  5.  One of our main benefits is our opt-in General Help email list. You can send any mac or i-device question (or even just general discussion) to this list and you will normally get a response from other members within the hour. Your question gets seen by everyone on the list and you will usually get answers from multiple people. Likewise you see everyone else’s questions, giving you a good way to learn from the experience of others. Your email address is distributed with your question, however note that it is not open to the public – only paid-up ACTApple members are on the list. Visit www.stagecraft.cx/mailman/listinfo/actapple for more details and to subscribe.Enjoy,

    regards

February Update

hi all!
Here we are in 2019! Woohoo!. A few reminders…

  1. Canberra meetings are now in the daytime on the 3rd Wed of each month except Jan. Next meeting is 20th February.
  2. Port Mac first meeting is this weekend
  3. Moruya first meeting is 3rd March
  4. I’ll be at the Port meeting this weekend, we’ll be doing a hands-on afternoon so bring your machines along. Only 2 sessions so we’ll have the time we need to get everyone across the line.
    – 12:30 to 3:15 will be creating a photo book on the Mac AND the ipad (and how to get it printed if you want).
    – 3:30 to 5pm will be all about password management. We’ll get your passwords under control with LastPass and Keychain. That means we’ll get all your passwords into LastPass so you can start using it.
  5. One of our main benefits is our opt-in General Help email list. You can send any mac or i-device question (or even just general discussion) to this list and you will normally get a response from other members within the hour. Your question gets seen by everyone on the list and you will usually get answers from multiple people. Login Option on Website (Testing)

You may notice the login/register option on the sidebar and in some menus.  We will be introducing a new feature so ACTApple members can log in to the members only content using their own user ID (which can be your email address) and your own password – so hooray, no more trying to remember the ACTApple assigned password, you will be able to choose your own!

The feature is still being tested, so please don’t bother registering just yet – keep using the existing password for members only content.  If you do mistakenly register, that’s fine, we’ll hold your registration request until we are ready to switch over.

We’ll let everyone know when to register so you can continue to access members only content when the changeover happens.

Cheers
Tony (Webmaster)

  1. Renewal season is still going. About one third of members still to renew, so please have a look at that before end-Dec.
  2. A couple of very interesting articles by Martina.

  4. No Canberra daytime meeting this month.
  5. One of our main benefits is our opt-in General Help email list.
